cp • 英格兰的故事:是Story of England， 不是History of England
看的时候一直是当作History of England的，结果今天发现名字是叫Story of England。
在每一集的开场，Michael Woods会告诉你：
“And for once, this is not the tale of rulers. Of course, you can always tell history through the stories of King and Queens, but it's only when you look at it through the lives of the ordinary people, ... ... that you begin to understand who we really are.“
这部纪录片是不是讲统治者的，而是关于普通人的，确切的说是生活在Kibworth的普通人。Kibworth这个小村庄贯穿了整个英国历史，这种在大的历史背景下，讲普通人故事的视角，还挺新颖的。
个人认为，本片有两个看点：
1. 英国历史文物的完好保存令人惊叹。想象一下，在普通人家的后院，掘地三尺，就能找到罗马时期的陶片。
在Merton College, Oxford的图书馆，在National Archive，小到私人信件、遗嘱，大到土地所有人、耕作的佃农等各种历史文件都有书面版，与土地相关的还配有实测图，并且都是原件存留。
2. 英国风土人情。因为是讲普通人的故事，本片有很多时间都是与Kibworth当地群众互动完成，包括挖掘历史残片，采访等。从中可以欣赏到英国的乡村风光，间接感受当地人的生活状况。
